
Jing Lu, MSc, BSc (Agr)
Jing Lu’s main research interests focus on understanding the nutritional requirements of animals and developing cost-effective formulation using sustainable feed ingredients in order to achieve balance among the growth, health and welfare of animals using biochemical and genetic assessment tools. Research topics she feels particularly passionate about include: sustainable feed ingredients, feed and feed ingredient processing, larvae nutrition and animal nutrition. Jing recently defended her Master of Science thesis titled, “Use of oil, solvent-extracted meal and protein concentrate from camelina (camelina sativa L. Crantz) for salmonids at the early life stage,”which she completed under the supervision of Dr. Derek Anderson. In the long list of excellent research skills possessed by Miss Lu, two of her finest research qualities are her meticulous attention to detail and focus on animal care.
